How To Treat Acne

by Ray

That nasty pimple has a way of popping up whenever there is an important event in your life, doesn’t it? Even when you are getting enough sleep, exercising and what not, you just can’t get rid of that acne. It can get super frustrating dealing with bad skin.

Oily skin is more prone to gathering dirt leading to acne and other skin issues. It takes a bit more time and effort to care of an oily skin and to ensure acne stays at bay.

Here are a few easy tips to treat acne and care for your skin:

Keep It Oil Free
The best way of treating acne is to ensure whichever products you use are oil free. Sunscreens, lotions, face wash, and cosmetics containing oil can further clog your pores and make your acne worse. Opt for oil-free products which are non-comedogenic, fragrance-free & clinically tested for skin irritancy & allergies. Remember, avoid or limit the use of hair gels and products as they are rather oily and can affect your skin.

Include Acne Products In Your Regime
The right acne products can help in clearing those blemishes without irritation or leaving behind any marks. These products must have Salicylic acid and benzoyl peroxide as these two are the most effective acne-fighting ingredients. They assist in unclogging pores, removing excess oil, preventing acne breakouts and leaving your skin healthier and radiant.

Hands Off!
If you have acne, touching your face constantly and picking at your acne is a strict no-no. This habit can result in permanent skin damage and it can leave behind acne scars. Continuous picking on your acne or touching your face worsens the problem. It creates distress and inflammation to the skin. It also leads to bacteria being pushed deep in the pore, bursting the oil glands, and resulting in more trauma. What comes after? Scarring, discoloration and more acne!

Switch Your Pillowcase
You read it right! If you are not changing your pillow covers regularly, that could be the cause of your skin breaking out. Your pillow covers contain sweat and dirt from your hands, hair and face, which can lead to clogging of pores. It is best to switch to new pillow cases after at least a week.

Never Pop Those Pimples
This is worse than touching your face. Popping a pimple creates more skin problems as it leads to infections. If it’s disturbing you, apply a small amount of sulfur treatment on the problem area twice a day and it will reduce the swelling and eliminate the zit.

Try these tips out and see the difference. Remember, treating your acne takes time but it also helps in ensuring your acne stays away, leaving your skin healthy and smooth.
